Platemail

Platemail is brigandine armor covered by a finely crafted sheathe of steel plates. It is usually worn only by people of high status heading off to war.

Scalemail

Scalemail uses overlapping scales of metal to protect its wearer. It looks a bit like snake skin, earning it the nickname Snakemail.

Chainmail

Chainmail is two or three layers of interlocking metal chain worn over a suit of padded armor. It is very flexible but a bit on the heavy side. Armies love how easy it is to repair, transport and resize. Unfortunately, chainmail rusts quite quickly and is not often worn in wet or tropical climes.

Iron Plate

Admittedly, iron plate is crap armor. It is crude cast-iron made for the sole purpose of adorning cannon fodder. It looks rough and ugly, is uncomfortable to wear, and rusts quite quickly unless kept coated in oil or the blood of your enemies.

Plate Pieces

Plate Pieces do not actually make up a suit. Instead they represent a collection of random armor pieces strapped over vital areas such as fore-arms, shoulders, shins, chest, thighs, etc. The running joke is that Plate Pieces is what most Plate Mail becomes after a few good battles.

Studded Leather

Studded Leather is a full suit of leather armor reinforced by metal studs that connect to small metal plates hidden inside it. Unlike leather armor it cannot pass as normal clothing.

Ring Mail

Ring mail is a leather hauberk with metal rings stitched onto its surface. It is a favorite in warm climes where the leather beneath the rings is often perforated to let heat escape. Doing this decreases its warmth to 5.

Chain Hauberk

A chain hauberk is a single layer of chainmail often worn as a long shirt over normal clothing.

Padded Armor

Padded Armor is made of multiple layers of heavy tough clothing. Despite the silly name, it is nothing to laugh at.

Leather Armor

Leather armor is a full suit of light pliable leather and cloth. It is not thick but is often layered two or three times over vital areas. Many prefer it to metal armor since it does not rust or make a whole lot of noise while sneaking about. Many wear it like normal clothing.

Clothing, Heavy

Heavy clothing is typically ordinary clothing worn in layers thick enough to keep one warm against winter weather.

Heavy Pelts

These are essentially animal skins strapped on as best as one can. It does not provide a whole lot of protection and the smell can get pretty ripe, but it’s better than nothing.

Swim Mail

Swim mail is a scant cover of armor designed to intimidate people into not attacking its wearer. After all, the only thing crazier than wearing a chainmail bikini or scalemail speedo is attacking someone crazy enough to wear one.

Clothing, Light

Light clothing is ordinary clothing, something along the lines of a loose shirt and breeches.

Shield

Name Type Defense Move Price Wm Freq
Shield, Large Shield 8 -3 $50   R

Buckler, Spiked Buckler 2 0 $30   R
Gauntlet Buckler 1 0 $45   R
Gauntlet, Spiked Buckler 1 0 $60   R
Shield, Large

A large shield is like a door you strap to your arm for full body protection.

Shield, Medium

A medium shield is large enough to cover ones whole arm and most of the upper body.

Shield, Small

A small shield is just large enough to cover its wielder's forearm.

Buckler

A buckler is a small yet stout shield about the size of a dinner plate.

Buckler, Spiked

A spiked buckler is a buckler covered in spikes to make it do more damage when used as a weapon.

Gauntlet

A gauntlet is a metal reinforced glove. While most people don't think of them as shields, each gauntlet adds a point to the character's shield total. Note that this is an individual gauntlet. Buying two of them, one for each hand, adds 2 to your shield total.

A gauntlet can be used as a weapon (a replacement for your punch attack), but only if that hand is not busy wielding another weapon. If it is wielding a shield, the gauntlet adds to the shield's protection and that is it.

Gauntlet, Spiked

This gauntlet is covered in metal spikes. It weighs a bit more than a normal gauntlet but does more damage when it hits.
Note that this is a single gauntlet, not a pair.
